How Do I Become a Freemason?

1) First things first, take a look at our FAQ page. That will answer some questions you may have and maybe even some you DON'T have.

2) Take a moment to reflect on WHY you want to join and what you hope to get out of it. It's a magnificent journey, but one you should not start on a whim. It takes commitment and some effort on your part.

If you already know a Mason, proceed to Step 5. Otherwise, go to Step 3.

3) Figure out what Lodge makes the most sense for you to join. This may be the Lodge closest to your home, closest to work, etc. Our address is on the right side of the page. If we do not necessarily make the most geographical sense, there are PLENTY of other Lodges. The rest of the Lodges in our district can be found on this page. If this district does not work, I would recommend checking out the website for the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania. They have a Lodge Locator that will help you find the best Lodge for you. If you do not live in Pennsylvania, you will need to use your internet search engine of choice to find the Grand Lodge site for your state.

4) Once you have found the Lodge you would like to join, find the Secretary's email. Ours is on the right-hand side of the page. Other Lodges will either have their own website, or you can go to the Grand Lodge site to find contact information.

5) Once you have a Masonic contact, reach out to him and let him know you are interested in joining. He will provide you with a blank petition. You may have seen that there is a petition link below. I do NOT recommend filling it out yourself before you talk to someone at the Lodge, as the petition may not be up-to-date, or they may work with you to fill it out.
